Right wing religious extremists - Growth of their influence
Extreme right wing Fundamentalist Religious fanatics, who in the 60's in America found an alliance with extremists from different religions, in order to reclaim dwindling flock and oppose the spread of eastern style religions and “new age” realities.

In the 60's in America, People were leaving established family religions and reaching for themselves to understand spirituality.

The alliance between previously opposed religions (catholic, protestant, Jewish) has become mainstream. Extremists in this Alliance bonded and created a movement which poses as an "anti-cult movement" , known as this by scholars and students of history and philosophy.

In reality the "anti-cult" movement is populated by religious extremists determined to bring down any thing other than their own take on religion. They consider they are "fighting the devil" by objecting to anything other than their own thought processes. No law or sense of decency will oppose this. So you understand their complete disregard for human rights, freedom of thought and association, and their willingness to break and defy the Law. They usually mix with those political activists of an extreme right wing agenda.
