Ms Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor & Applicant
AVO case, Cross-examination

Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: You said earlier that Karli Stevenson was a close friend?
Applicant: Yes.
Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: With whom you had created a trust?
Applicant: Yes
Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: You respected her?
Applicant: Yes.
Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: I take it that the trust was based on a sense of mutual respect?
Applicant: Yes.
Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: And a belief in one another’s honesty?
Applicant: Yes.
Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: Is that right?
Applicant: Yes.
Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: You believe her to be a very honest person?
Applicant: I did
Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: Do you agree with me that in a meeting with Karli Stevenson on 13 March 2007 you confided in Karli that you had been throughout your life a compulsive liar?
Applicant: Yes.
Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: I show you a document. You don’t need to read all of this document, I’d just like you to have a look at it and reflect back to 13 March 2007. Do you see that document?
Applicant: Yes.
Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: That is a transcript of the conversation that you had with Karli Stevenson on 13 March 2007 which was recorded, isn’t it?
Applicant: I can see that.
Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: Is the answer yes?
Applicant: Yes.
Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: That records a lengthy conversation you had with Karli Stevenson on 13 March, doesn’t it?
Applicant: Yes.
Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: In that conversation you were having a very candid and honest discussion with her about, amongst other things, your history of lying. Isn’t that right?
Applicant: I haven’t read it all.
Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: Go to page 7, or page 8?
Applicant: Which part?
Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: There is a discussion there about lying, isn’t there?
Applicant: Page 7?
Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: Top of page 8, Karli says, “But they are all lies” and you say “Mm-Hmm”. See that?
Applicant: Yes.

... ... ... ... ... ...

Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: Then you say, “It’s a whole thing of mine” correct?
Applicant: Mm-hmm.
Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: Karli says, “Yes, it works with mum and dad”, you say, “It works with everyone, I’m the best at it, I can admit that, I lie to everyone.” That’s true, correct?
Applicant: Yes.
Hamilton-Dyers’ Solicitor: That is what you said to her?
Applicant: It is.
